Why Inherit the Kingdom Exists
we must have the same priorities as jesus.
What does Jesus care about? The parable of the sheep and the goats from Matthew 25 shows us.
At the end of the age, when Jesus returns in all His glory, He’s going to separate the sheep from the goats. The sheep on his right will “inherit the kingdom prepared since the creation of the world” and enter eternal life. The goats on His left are called “cursed” and are told to depart from the Lord’s presence into eternal punishment.
What’s the difference between the sheep in the goats? What’s the difference between eternal life and eternal punishment, between being blessed by the Father or cursed?
It’s how they responded to “the least of these” — the hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, imprisoned strangers. It’s how they treated the people who have nothing. Who can’t help themselves. Who have been cast aside and ignored by society.
This isn’t meant to be taken literally as works-based salvation. It’s a parable meant to convey a message: Jesus cares deeply about the poor, and identifies with them so closely that He says to help them is to help Him; to reject them is to reject Him.
“Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. … Truly I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.” - Matthew 25:40, 45
Inherit the Kingdom exists for those followers of Christ who want to align their lives with Jesus’ heart, and who want to spend themselves — their time, resources, and energy — helping the “least of these” in San Diego live the lives God created them for.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Inherit the Kingdom is an explicitly Christian organization. We affirm the following:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for sin. After being crucified, He rose from the dead, appearing to many, then ascended to heaven where He now sits at the right hand of the Father until His promised return.
There is one God who exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit.
Salvation comes by faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is a free gift offered by the grace of God to all who would receive it. It cannot be earned by good works and it cannot be lost by sin for those who genuinely believe. Christ’s sacrifice covers sins past, present and future for those who are in Him.
Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. Forgiveness of sins comes no other way but through Christ. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, INHERIT THE KINGDOM prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.”
