The gospel is the good news that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins.
God sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we can be forgiven, and so our relationship with God can be restored.
We’ve all sinned, meaning we’ve all done things that are wrong, so we all deserve to be punished by God. But, God loves us so much that rather than punish us, he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment that we deserved so that we can receive grace, forgiveness, and eternal life.
Every person can receive this free gift from God.
We receive it by faith—meaning through sincere belief that Jesus is Lord, that he died for sin, and God raised him from the dead.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
